RISE builds resilient communities by bringing educators and local leaders together to deliver clear, practical learning rooted in local needs. We focus on simple steps before, during and after a crisis: clear guidance, short training, and low cost, high impact ideas so people can anticipate risks, act sooner and recover well. Ready for tomorrow, together.

RISE helps communities across Europe prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters through clear, hands on adult and community education. The project began after the 2024 floods in Spain, where we saw first hand the need for clear guidance, simple training and affordable solutions. We have turned those lessons into practical tools we now share widely so communities anywhere can prepare better, respond faster and recover smarter.
Our Best Practice Guide, an Interactive Digital Database, and more than ten analysed case studies that show what works in real settings. It will provide step by step methods, checklists and templates that local teams can use. A framework for scalable recovery will help users adapt and transfer solutions. Orientation resources and an engagement pack will speed adoption, while a validation summary documents expert and community feedback. The result is faster uptake by educators and leaders, and quicker movement from learning to action, strengthening preparedness, response and recovery.
This strand delivers a ready to use training package that turns learning into local action. It includes a shared training curriculum, practical modules and digital toolkits for educators and community leaders. We will run pilot training, host community workshops that build real skills for preparedness and recovery, and launch an online learning portal for self-guided study. A simple digital badge system will recognise completion and skills gained. Finally, a public showcase and knowledge exchange webinar will share the approach and resources so others can adopt and adapt them in their own communities.
This strand turns ideas into practical tools communities can use. It will set a simple innovation framework and launch an online space where educators, local leaders and innovators work together. Through design challenges, teams will create and test low cost, easy to use solutions that are ready to scale. A public showcase will share the best results and invite partners and networks to adopt them, speeding up the move from ideas to working solutions and strengthening community preparedness, response and recovery.
